Info and Pricing for Encounters Prints

Limited edition prints of my 2005-2006 series Encounters are now available at the Darrell Bell Gallery in Saskatoon. This post includes info about the printing methods, edition sizes, and pricing for the prints.

I’ve written elsewhere about the techniques I use in making digital art here and here, and my online portfolio includes gallery of all of the images in the series. Here’s a summary: the images are created from pen-and-ink sketches. I make digital collages of the sketches and then refine the compositions and colours using the vector-based imaging software Adobe Illustrator.

The prints will be available in limited editions at three different sizes but only Edition A is available immediately. Here are the specifications for the different editions. Pricing is in Canadian Dollars.

Edition A:

  • 13″ x 30.5″ image size on 17″ x 33.5″ paper
  • Edition of 10 prints, plus 1 artist proof
  • Numbers 1 and 2 of Edition A are reserved for buyers who wish to purchase an entire folio of all 48 Encounters images. Folio pricing is $12,000 per set of 48 prints.
  • Pricing for individual prints is $350 unframed. Framing with UV-filtered glass is $230, for a total price of $580 for each framed print. Numbers 3-10 inclusive are available as individual prints, framed or unframed.

Each edition is printed with pigment-based Epson Ultrachrome K3 inks on Epson Ultra Smooth Fine Art Paper. The paper is 250gsm 100% rag, acid-free and buffered, and has no optical brighteners. This ink/paper combination has been tested for lightfastness up to 175 years when displayed framed under UV-filtered glass. For more information on the lifespan of these materials, see the test results from Wilhelm Imaging Research.
