28 Feb 2007: Art Practice As Residency

In many ways I’ve been treating my daily life over the past few months as if I was on an extended residency in an unfamiliar locale. This has helped me break some habits and overcome various fears that have been holding me back. I have a number of events coming up in the next few weeks: two pieces in a Fine Craft Auction fundraiser in Saskatoon for the Saskatchewan Craft Council and Saskatoon Community Youth Arts Program, an artist talk at Paved Arts in Saskatoon, three painted wooden assemblages on display at a Naturopath’s office in Calgary, and commercial representation by a Saskatoon art dealer.

15 Feb 2007: Artist Talk in Saskatoon on March 3

On March 3, 2007 I will be giving a short, informal talk about my digital art practice at Paved Arts, a media artist-run centre in Saskatoon. I will talk about my use of the vector-based imaging program Adobe Illustrator in my art practice, and how this relates to a more general practice that includes painting, assemblage, and sculpture. I will also talk about how my digital practice has affected my work away from the computer, and the feedback loops created by working in a number of seemingly unrelated areas that include traditional and digital media.
